Woman Fishes Cellphone Out Of Pelican's Stomach

A shocking video has captured the moment rescuers pull an iPhone from a pelican’s stomach it accidentally snatched from a human thinking it was a fish. In the unbelievable footage, two members of staff at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center hold the bird as one puts her hand down its throat and into its stomach. Emma McCarthy, the bird center’s intern, and hospital technician Adam Manglitz, work together until Emma’s arm reappears holding the phone removed from the bird’s stomach. The video was captured in Tavernier, Florida, on February 23, after staff received a call to the BIRDgency hotline. The brown pelican had mistaken the phone for a fish and snatched it out of a woman's hand at a local marina in Islamorada, Florida. Having grabbed the phone, the bird, nicknamed "Cell Peli," then swallowed it. Following the successful retrieval of the phone by staff, the bird was released into the wild a few days later.
