Cheerleader Surprised With Marriage Proposal

A football cheerleader got a shock when dismounting from a stunt to discover her boyfriend down on one knee proposing to her. When Travis Whitmore, also a cheerleader, completed the aerial move with girlfriend Hannah Wellman, their dance partners ran behind them with a banner: "Hannah Will You Marry Me!" After landing on two feet, a stunned Hannah, 20, turned around to read the message, putting her hands to her mouth in silent shock as Travis, 22, pulled out a ring. The moment took at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, the home of Marshall University in West Virginia, where Travis and Hannah are both part of the cheer squad. They began dating in January 2020, and Travis said he always knew he wanted an extravagant proposal for his partner, who has been cheering for 12 years. Travis – who has cheered for six years himself – selected October 9, the university's homecoming weekend, for the big surprise. Hannah had no idea, and after the game, in which Marshall beat Old Dominion Monarchs, 20-13, the university shared a video of the moment on social media, leading to a series of warm messages from both classmates and viewers around the world.
