Mom Surprised With Family Christmas For First Time In 23 Years

A beloved mom got her Christmas miracle when she looked at a photo of her family's festive gathering and realized her son who she hadn't seen in eight years was present – along with his wife and child, who she had never met. The well-planned surprise in Huntsville, Alabama, brought together family living across three continents, and was the first time Yoleyda "Yoly" Daza had her sons together for Christmas in over two decades. Yoly, 67, who lives in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, had seen her older son Maikool Gomes, 43, move to the United States in 2000. Maikool's younger brother, David, was nine when his brother moved to the U.S., and after Maikool had visited Venezuela in 2016, David decided he, too, would like to live overseas, heading to Marseille, France, leaving the family split across three continents. A combination of flight costs and accommodation issues meant David hadn't been able to return home and Yoly had not been able to visit her son since the move. During that time, David also married and welcomed his first child, Enzo, who Yoly had only ever interacted with via FaceTime.
