Photographers See Inquisitive Puffin Come And Say Hello

A wildlife photographer experienced a beautiful interaction, when a curious puffin decided to approach her just a few feet away. Sacha Taylor, 35, was greeted by the puffin while visiting Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire, Wales, on June 16. Since she was a child, Sacha, from Colchester, Essex, has always had a love of wildlife and creativity, turning the two into a small business, My Little Habitat, which sees her create handmade bee hotels, bird feeders, and children's nature activities. Sacha's vacations have been directed by a love of wildlife, too, as she travels to photograph orcas, bald eagles, sea otters, dolphins and black bears. For her latest vacation, Sacha visited Skomer Island, where puffins are in abundance in June. This was a record-breaking year, Sacha said, with more than 50,000 puffins visiting the island – and though she hoped this large number of birds would make for great photo opportunities, she admitted she could not have dreamed of how well things then played out. Having followed the required paths near a cliff edge, Sacha and her partner sat down to take in the scenery and capture some photos, before putting her camera down. She spotted a puffin from afar, but the bird kept edging closer, with Sacha not reaching for her camera as not to scare the bird. Before she knew it, the curious puffin was just a few feet away from Sacha, and so she stealthily recorded the moment on her cellphone, as part of a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
