Rescued Duck Immediately Strikes Up Conversation With New Pals At Sanctuary

A sociable duck who was rescued after being hit by a car immediately struck up a conversation with her new pals when she was introduced to them at a sanctuary. The previous few months had been tough for Nanci, a Muscovy duck, who had been hit by a car and was so injured that she couldn't walk. According to staff at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, New York, as Nanci lay on the side of the road, a group of teenagers started to harass her, only for a kind passerby to intervene and save Nanci's life. When the rescuer realized Nanci wasn't a wild duck, she sent her to a friend to take care of her, wrapping Nanci’s leg and helping her to heal. But it soon became clear that a sociable duck like Nanci needed other Muscovys for company, as well as an outdoor space, and so she was taken to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, where she was set to meet her new pals on June 23. Muscovy ducks have a language very different from your typical pekin or mallard, so they are very communicative with others of their breed. When Nanci's fellow Muscovys came over, she immediately began chatting away, in a wholesome moment that staff captured on video.
