Man Reunites With Sister's Fiancé After Donating Kidney To Save His Life

A man gave his sister's fiancé the ultimate early wedding gift by donating his kidney to save his life. Michael Carmona, 29, has always shared a close bond with sister Jazmine's fiancé, Thomas, 32, but even he couldn’t have ever imagined it would have led to him lying in an operating theatre. Jazmine, 32, from San Jacinto, California, said Thomas began throwing up at work and losing weight, becoming so unwell he was taken to hospital, where his kidneys were functioning at around eight percent, and needed immediate dialysis. Thomas doesn't have a large family, so Jazmine asked her family if they could potentially put themselves forward to be donors, only for Thomas' rare blood type making it difficult to find a match. He was faced with a potential wait of up to 10 years, but after matching with Michael, the pair discussed the possibilities. Michael decided to go through with the donation, and ahead of their surgeries, the pair joked about who would recover quickest. On July 20, at Loma Linda University Medical Center, Michael walked into Thomas' room, where the pair shared an emotional reunion and Thomas had tears in his eyes.
