Boy With Down Syndrome Reunited With Favorite Therapy Horse

A boy with down syndrome has been filmed emotionally reuniting with his therapeutic horse after it had been away for several weeks receiving medical treatment. Nine-year-old Connor Morgan had become inseparable from his giant best friend – a 15.2 hands tall Gelding named Bob. The pair met after Connor, who has Down Syndrome, was enrolled in summer horse camp for young children called Cassidy’s Cause Therapeutic Riding Academy (CCTRA). The academy aims to help children with disabilities to experience recreation and therapy with the help of horses. But despite being afraid of most animals when he first joined, Connor gradually grew to love horses, especially Bob. And within a matter of weeks the pair had become so inseparable, that mom Kelli enrolled Connor into a full-time program at the riding academy. But 21-year-old horse Bob was eventually diagnosed with navicular disease, an inflammation or degeneration of a bone in the front feet which can lead to disabling lameness. Fearing for Bob’s health, CCTRA leader and founder Dara Triplett – who set up the academy in honor of her own daughter who loved horses but died from a genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis which caused seizures – sent bob away for specialist treatment. And the separation hit Connor particularly hard, as he increasingly missed riding his best buddy. So, when Bob was eventually given the all clear by vets and returned to the stables, Kelli along with Dara, instructor Marie Hart and team leader Janice Fairhurst concocted a plan to surprise Connor and reunite him with Bob. Filming the moment Janice walks through the barn in Paducah, Kentucky, holding Connor’s hand, his face lights up with joy as he realizes Bob is back before shouting, “Oh, Bob!” Emotionally, Connor runs up to his best friend and begins hugging him as those present in the barn fight back tears at the sweet moment.
