Girl Devastated After Snow Globes Smash Surprised With Donations

A teen with special needs is brought to tears when she discovers an entire online community had replaced her broken beloved snow globe collection. Janae, 15, from Thornton, Colorado, has a rare genetic condition called Williams Syndrome, which causes growth delays, short stature, a varying degree of mental deficiencies, and distinctive facial features that typically become more pronounced with age. For years, Janae has been infatuated with snow globes, after her grandparents Rick and May Caudill gifted her one when she was younger. Over the years, Janae's collection continued to grow, as friends and family members began getting them for her when they when on vacations or as gifts for her birthday and Christmas. But earlier this year, a shelf in Janae's room that housed her collection of 32 snow globes broke, causing the entire collection to fall and shatter on her dresser Janae was devastated, and so her aunt, Stefanny Avera, 36, decided she needed to do something to help. Stefanny made a posts on Facebook and Nextdoor, an app connecting local neighborhoods, asking people if they had any snow globes for sale or that they could donate. The posts quickly blew up and before she knew it, she had a collection of 87 snow globes to surprise Janae with. On the day of the surprise, Janae though she was simply going for a lounge day at her grandma's house with her dad Kyle Caudill, 34, and stepmom. When she opened the front door, however, Janae saw Stefanny recording and then walked over to the collection of snow globes in the corner of the room. The gesture brought her to floods of happy tears, and since then more snow globes have come flooding in, bringing Janae’s collection to nearly 100.
