This is the mesmerizing moment hundreds of mobula rays swim towards a diver. Diver Maria Barbena was diving in the Pacific Ocean, near Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, when her group spotted a few mobula rays jumping in the distance. As their boat headed in the direction, they hoped to spot a few of the rays in the water, but Maria was left stunned after jumping into the water. Moments after submerging herself, in December 2022, a shadow in the distance begins moving closer – before hundreds and hundreds of mobula rays suddenly appear directly in front of her. Maria, herself a diving instructor and co-founder of ODICEAN – whose mission is to connect people with the sea via social media – shared the moment on social media where it went viral with millions of views.
