Get Buried Alive Under Volcanic Sand In Japan

Forget traditional massages and facials, this sand spa takes things to another level - burying you up to your neck in hot volcanic sand. As ways to get your rest and relaxation go, this is extreme, with each customer buried in sand until only their head is left peeping out the top. The hot sand - heated by water bubbling beneath the coastline thanks to the nearby volcano - reaches extreme temperatures. Guests wear a yakuta, a robe-like garment, before having the sand piled on top until they are completely cocooned - from where they begin to sweat out toxins and impurities. Costing just USD7.30 (GBP5.50) for fifteen minutes buried alive, tourists regularly flock to the little known Kagoshima Prefecture just to experience the bizarre tradition.
