3 Million KG Of Trash Prevented From Entering Ocean

3,000,000kg of trash has been prevented from entering the Caribbean Ocean thanks to an innovative device that traps it upstream. The Ocean Clean Up Interceptor Barricade was used in the Las Vacas River in Guatemala during the rainy season. Usually, whenever a heavy rainstorm arrives, it washes tonnes of trash from surrounding urban developments into the river, which flows directly into the Caribean Ocean. The charity, however, is using technology to prevent these huge flows of trash from reaching their end destination. So far, 3,000,000kg of trash has been captured and removed, with their efforts continuing throughout the flooding season in Guatemala. Mandatory credit: The Ocean Cleanup / T&T
